Birgir Enni is a notable figure from the Faroe Islands, known for his multifaceted contributions to the maritime culture and foodways of the Faroe Islands.
He was introduced to the sea at an early age in village Tvøroyri where he began sailing with a dinghy in the fiord and later developed an interest for the traditional Faroese wood boat.
On a family visit to Iceland in 1967, Birgir bought diving equipment, and returned home his diving career was born. Hann begin diving and collecting seafood, which he shared with family and friends.
After having spent five years restoring the old schooner, Norðlýsið, in 1991 a group of men, Birgir among them, took steps to organize sailing trips with Norðlýsið across the Faroe Islands, and delicious seafood was an integral part of the many sailing trips.
For 28 years Birgir was the captain of Norðlýsið, and he retired in 2019. However, he still finds much joy in preparing good seafood, and he continues to cook for old and new friends.
